Sonnet- Perpetually discontent is Man
by
Dr. John Celes
May be, Man ate all luscious fruits on earth,
His taste-buds but are never satisfied;
May be, he had all fragrance sweet by breath,
And yet, his nose always doth feel denied.
May be, Man had the sex for which he craved,
Perversions too that may have come his way;
May be, in life much troubles he had braved,
But when comes joy too much, He's sad that day!
May be, he saw all things his heart desired,
And ate food fine and drank the wine, earth's best,
And till the day, he ought to be pyred,
His earthly wants, cannot be put to rest.
Fie man, Who canst appease thy cancerous want?
Fulfill no one ev'r canst, Even God can't.
