The Web Poetry Corner - Dr. John Celes - Sonnet-To A Loving Student

Sonnet-To A Loving Student

by

Dr. John Celes

I wish to kiss those lips of rosy hue
And cheeks that blush, whenever shy she feels;
I wish to see the flow'ry face with dew,
And watch her footsteps without any heels.

Big-made she is but always full of cheer;
Of nature calm withdrawn and shiny eyes;
Oh, when she cried, how rapid came her tear!
She is my loving student, one that's nice.

I see her happy face that now and then
Turns sad when she finds that I’m not out there;
She loves to hear the poems that I pen
And gallops off in silence like a mare!

To her, I am a Teacher, loved and dear;
To me, she is a soul who can't be near!
