The Web Poetry Corner - Doug Larson - 3 A.M.

3 A.M.

by

Doug Larson

Quiet
hum in my head
trickle-drip of rain
tock of clock
inrush of breath
a rustle in the other room
Where are you now?
Where am I?
refrigerator cycles
stomach hurts
feel cold
you’re in my head
you are the hum
my stomach’s growl
the trickle drop
tick tock
my breath
and for a moment
exhilarating
the rustle
