The Web Poetry Corner - Dina Dinsmoor - battle for triferotita

battle for triferotita

by

Dina Dinsmoor

With hopes held high
Now you hold my hand
I opened up my eyes and
truly I saw the land

The battle over
The score was settled and
Surrendering we took
An uncommon stand

Bring us the gifts
The warriors do know
When spring thaws
Soldiers' hearts from snow

Where once I saw
A land of shaded woes
It turned into
Landscapes of spectral hues

The cost was high
We both had paid our dues
Battle scars, empty hours
Silent in empty rooms

But this return
So great we had no clue
Songs of strength and love
Always find their way home
