The Web Poetry Corner - Diane Klammer - Slums

Slums

by

Diane Klammer

Buildings so immense
Millions of people
Like ants crowd
Stuffed in tiny rectangles
Each one seems so small
Compressed
In a miniscule space

Rooms sit silently
As books on shelves
Holding within
Stories of lives remain quiet
Unread, forgotten or abandoned
Left to collect dust
To yellow and crumble
They are overlooked
by apathetic readers
