The Web Poetry Corner - Diane Klammer - Posterity

Posterity

by

Diane Klammer

Childrem scream
For attention
(While no one hears)
To survive
In a world
Which rotates
Shakily

Without conviction
Children grow
Until no longer
They
Wish to know
Care to dream

Utterances unheard
They become
Apathetic adults
Who in turn
Cannot condone
Mundane inconveniences
Of nurturing
A next generation

Their blanketed sportscars
Sit
Parked adjacent
To an abortion clinic

Children Scream
For attention
(While no one hears)
To survive
In a world
Which rotates
Shakily
Without conviction
Children grow
Until no longer
They
