The Web Poetry Corner - Diane Klammer - Falling (for Carla)
Falling (for Carla)
by
Diane Klammer
Red roses once
Resting in a vase
Descend, descend
Down through
empty space.
Flame petals fall
Down to hit
The table. Bleed to
The floor.
Some were torn
Pieces pulled apart,
Calyxes fragmented
Heads left naked
Not by chance.
Insidious, the
Depression takes hold,
Manifests itself
Destroying beauty
Fragmenting life.
Leaves flowers in pieces
Broken
To a lone
Demise.
