The Web Poetry Corner - Diane Klammer - Daddy

Daddy

by

Diane Klammer

(for Gene)

Sons grow
Into men
From the farms to the planes
View land below
Make Idaho patchwork patterns
Into LA city geometry

Romance grows
Foreign and familiar
Exotic Brazil Sugar Loaf jewel
Joins military precision pilot
Mixing north and south
Creating new world bicultural blessings

Jobs grow
From abstract science education
To concrete commutes
From deep valleys to wide seas
Quiet microscopic interludes
Bring home bacon

Gardens grow
Into beauty and flowering
From conception
Timely germination
Bears lush fruit
The harvest is good

Daughters grow
Into women representing
Science and music
Love and strength
With father pondering
The female mystery

Impressions grow
Into art
Fluid as paint
Images change
With a thought
To become permanent substance

Grandchildren grow
To resemble ancestors
In ways of intellect
Health and creativity
Design vague plans
Which ripen into full lives
