The Web Poetry Corner - Delores Senkbeil - OUR ROSE

OUR ROSE

by

Delores Senkbeil

Deep in my heart you planted a seed
That memorable night, so long ago.
And from that tiny little seed
A beautiful rose did grow.

Oh what pain the thorns inflicted
On my faithful, tender heart,
During all the long and lonely nights
You kept us far apart.

But that lovely rose refused to die
It struggled so to stay alive.
My deep and devoted love for you
Has helped the rose survive.

Now, our rose is an everbearing one
For you came back to me.
We'll share its beauty and its thorns
Thru all eternity.
