Tomorrow...

"Tomorrow..." she pauses,
"Tomorrow will be better."

She counts the remainder
of the change in
her coffee can
walks to the corner store
buys lottery tickets
she can't aford.

Returns to her
apartment/fortress/prison--
the one she will be evicted from next month.
Cancels her chemotherapy
hospital appointment
and waits...

"Tomorrow," she sobs,
"Tomorrow will be better."
