Shattering

I gotta get away...
it seems as if my debts and obligations
have tightened some strange invisible noose.

and the hoard of famished slaves continues
to run through my brain.

I can't get away of the fact that
I may possibly fail.

Somehow it's not possible in
this world of idealistic treasures.

I cannot measure the depth of my loss...
somehow youth had masked every person's
tragic outcome as a romance.

It's a novel we've studied,
something Camus would have discovered
for a fictional character.

but the fact that it's enveloped
my own existence...
it's shattering.
