The Web Poetry Corner - Chris Lahren - Fair Wages
Fair Wages
by
Chris Lahren
Freeze the wages...free the slaves,
the turkeys will come out again...
unionized...dressed in picket fences,
dancing in circles.
The man upstairs looks down
upon the pecking, no more
worms for the dour faces...
shouting madly at this final hour.
The shock...negotiate...a wage to wait...
a bargain,
the man grins boyishly.
