The Web Poetry Corner - Candi Timmerman - un-sweentened

un-sweentened

by

Candi Timmerman

i remember once,
how you pulled me close and whispered
beautiful things into my mind.
sending me savory suggestions
that fucking you would change everything.
and it did.
It Did.
so i can't say i didn't know what your touch would do to me,
but i can say that i was naive enout to believe
it would maybe change you a little.
make you smile some,
make you laugh some,
make you at least content to be
the first who ever got me off.
the first to make my breath pull in sharp and
my hand to tremble.
but no.
possession for you (by you) was
too much for you (and me) to take.
and so, i am used up just a little more,
and all my soft is rapidly
fading.
sometimes i forget it was there at all.
