The Web Poetry Corner - Candi Timmerman - tomorrow will bring rain
tomorrow will bring rain
by
Candi Timmerman
today,
the world smiled on me and I knew that there would never be a more beautiful sun_
tomorrow I will see the way the clouds roll in, and perhaps I will write again_
write of the way the wind gets cold_ write of the way that the air suddenly bites my fingertips_ write of the way the green dies, the sky falls and the world is angry again.
But for today, I will feel the sun on my face, I will know the kiss of raindrops before the thunder screams_ those first sweet smelling trickles, that cleanse away the murky tears the world has given to me.
For the broken thing seeks who would fix her. But she always chooses other
Broken things.
She has tasted the offerings of one who could have healed her
Scarred
Mangled
Trust_
But he too couldn’t piece together
Her remnants, he couldn’t clean the mess.
The broken thing wonders sometimes if the healer hasn’t passed her by.
But for today, I will remember the way the light danced on my face, and I will put away the things I have seen,
So that someday,
When the clouds return,
When my voice finds me again.
I will open my pen,
And fill the space,
Killing the empty
And bringing forth the sun
