Anti-beauty
by
Candi Timmerman
I remember how you used to tell me you "liked me ugly best". Why did you put me in a position in which it was bad to be attractive?
You hated it when I wore anything that made me look even remotely
Pretty.
You detested my laugh and hated it when I fixed my hair. You threw me off
And now that you’re through with me,
I am lost.
You aren’t the only one who needs therapy_you stole my virginity, laughed when I cried, and now deny even my existence.
How dare you take away my beauty as well... what little I had? My original, dark, attractive glances when I shimmered
inside out.
The space between time when I was breath taking.
How dare you steal my shine away!?
Demon, sadist angel, I defy you and all the pain you inflict.
Torture someone else,
I can crucify myself.
