The Web Poetry Corner - C. E. Chandler - Ice Storm

Ice Storm

by

C. E. Chandler

In dawn's freezing air,
I slid down the back stair,
through the ice into the wind,
that stings the cheek and chin.

Damning the elements, I feel lost,
my breath stands still covered by frost,
with head down, to duck the freezing sleet,
and regretting I had left my bedsheet.

As the storm's bite begins to numb,
the sun arrivies, and the cold is overcome.
I don't look forward to the day tomorrow,
with the cold puddles of icy slush and snow.
