The Web Poetry Corner - Azra Daniel Francis - Hooray!
Hooray!
by
Azra Daniel Francis
A child prostitute died today,
Despite dozens of Golden Ages
Of dozens of World Civilizations,
A child prostitute died today.
The rest of us lived oblivious
In those last moments she convulsed
Into her murdering unfeeling eternity.
A child prostitute died today.
Hooray.
Now we can go on living conscience-free.
Not our fault the little thing was such a disgrace
To our top-of-the-food-chain specie!
Child prostitutes are murdered every day.
