For a thousand years have I roamed the face of this earth,
From the pyramids to the kings of Babylon - everywhere have I been,
In front of me the Trojans perished, Christ took birth,
From the dark nights of Ceylon to the Rising Sun - everything have I seen.
This is a tired heart in this sea full of men -
She gave me a moment’s peace - Miss Leena Sen.
Her hair, like those delicate nights of Arabia playing wanton gambols with the wind -
Her face, like the curves of Ellora lit by two stars;
For like Sindabad in the sea amongst all blue had seen some green -
Like that in utter darkness I have found her.
She asked me, "Where were you since then?"
Like a bird out of nest, Miss Leena Sen.
At the end of day, with soft whispers arrives the night -
The vulture rests its wings so warm;
Only the nightingale sings on in the firefly’s light -
Life rests now in the sea of calm.
All birds coma home, all rivers - even men
Only darkness lives on and Leena Sen.
