Landscapes Of My Mind

I remember not so long ago,
the world was once kind.
There was sincere goodness in the people you find.
People you meet would offer an encouraging
smile or even a seat.
there was respect for nature,
listening to the song birds,
wondering what would be the words.
The rippling river and canyon so grand.
People eager to offer a helping hand.
Inspiration from a mere speck of sand.
lovers so much in love.
now it's push comes to shove.
I remember children waiting for the icecream man
and cocaine wan't the choice of flavor.
And abortion wasn't in demand.
Now violence is the brainwashing music.
Vigilantys rule this land.
Whatever happended to gods country,
it's hard too understand.
I prefer the world not so long ago,
Where living in the world gave you peace of mind.
