The Web Poetry Corner - Angela Darlene Bean - Staunton

Staunton

by

Angela Darlene Bean

Train tracks
The creek flows silently
Across the tracks into the ghetto
Under the bridge
Down a long road
Stopping at the stoplight
School bus stop ahead
On to yet another stoplight
Businesses all around
Plumbing and heating
The old prison, condemned
Passing it haunts you
Looking down you see
The sad souls of the dead prisoners
People walk the streets
Use food stamps at the stores
Run down buildings
Speed, fast, racing
This is Staunton
