The Web Poetry Corner - Angela Darlene Bean - Silence

Silence

by

Angela Darlene Bean

sometimes silence can be so loud
it's like beating a drum
without a cloud
no one around
not a sound
no one to be heard
no one to be seen
not anything
not a telephone ring

just you
not speaking a word
nothing but the
silence heard

not the buzzing of cars
no falling stars
no movement
no home improvement
the world is dead
starving people not fed
people racist
the prejudice can't face us
people dying
caring people trying
