The Web Poetry Corner - Angela Bean - Fear

Fear

by

Angela Bean

so I am getting tired of hidin'
in the shadows but in the dark
got to be so quiet
oh don't wanna wake him
as quiet as a mouse
as tall as a house
as round as a mouth
fear sets in me
I can feel my heart beating
it gets slow then gradually
starts beating real fast
this fear that I carry
is so heavy

my heart beats
it pounds within me
I try to run away from my fears
I run and I run until I can't anymore
I fall to the ground and rest
but suddenly I hear footsteps
they sound like there closer and closer
I get up and look around
no one is in sight, no one around

soon my fear will catch up
I start running so fast
I run into a pole and hit my head
and land in the water
I am knocked unconscious
and no one is around
I dround in my fears
I ran away from my fears
and into death
