The Web Poetry Corner - Alfy Andrews - vainly we try

vainly we try

by

Alfy Andrews

Lord our God thanks for this period of grace
though we fall you will not smite my face
gracious Jesus , thanks for thine precious blood
now we are made clean though our feet are in mud
Lord we know we must not take your love for granted
taking advantage of grace which in us thou planted
we know the truth yet mostly and willingly we stumble
Lord we try hard to refrain from beggarly elements
yet our flesh thirsts only for sin, with it we fumble
teach us Lord to obey and submit to holy spirit
and help us to flee from devil who will want to hit
we still are thine children, so Jesus please........
