The Web Poetry Corner - Alfy Andrews - They Struck Him
They Struck Him
by
Alfy Andrews
My Lord, thou didst face physical and verbal abuse
For they mockingly said 'Hail King of Jews'
Jesus thou did not hide your beautiful face
From soldiers who hit it with a hard pace
Even they dared to spit upon you, the sinless one
suffering shame,to do thy Father's will as His son
They even plucked the hairs from thy beard
Inflicting pain, even when your cry they heard
Lord how did you endure pain and shame?
losing your honour and heavenly fame
Jesus to save us, did you recieve all the blows?
Lord to redeem sinners, did your pure blood flow?
Yes my King this is true, for the Bible tells us so
With one voice we all thank thee for setting us free
My God, My God ,thanks for thou did not forsake me.
