The Web Poetry Corner - Alfy Andrews - Shelter Above

Shelter Above

by

Alfy Andrews

"Home sweet home" did the starved tramp sing
To earn a supper and strength to his body bring
Shelter one of man's legitimate basic needs
For this men must toil without any greed
A garish house bringeth social status to family
With cosy comforts within, does good to progeny
The rich of the world build amazing mansions
Rooms aplenty, all built by skilled masons
Their hearts are set on riches and filled with pride
But as believers whatever be our lot on earth
We may be rich or poor ,but Jesus is on our side
There is a promise for every believer in Him to cherish
When clocks become still and our mortal lives perish
Rich and poor believers will gather unto the living bread
The Lord of Hosts does ,as promised to his beloved
Lord Jesus always spoke the truth, He never lied
Mansions are getting ready for His own, to be occupied
Let us all hope and cheer, for sure there is shelter above
So gladly will our souls fly, to embrace our Lord, our Love
