The Web Poetry Corner - Alfy Andrews - Lesson from the stray dog

Lesson from the stray dog

by

Alfy Andrews

I saw a dog dwelling in garbage
It was upto some reversible damage
Though rumpfed with no lack of food
The trash it relished it as good
This made the dog sick and worser
Still the canine would near the trash linger
Often it would with sorrow spit
soon with joy it returns to its own vomit.
How I loathe that dog , oh how unclean?
How can it behave in a way that's so mean
Soon I learn that as for me there's a lesson
Let me quietly recollect , let me reason
The trash was the cherised sin, I wouldnt let go
And me the stray dog that would relish it so
Time and time again I would gobble and spit
Yes I came for more , I returned to my own vomit.
Lord Thou can alone change the heart of mine ( the dead dog )
Lord the impurities within , please unclog.
