The Web Poetry Corner - Alfy Andrews - Help us to Cleave
Help us to Cleave
by
Alfy Andrews
Amidst decay and dung
and biting coldness
When doom metal is sung
along with sensuousness
The hungry cry aloud
while the cobra hisses
The rich parade so proud
And millions of kisses
Are wasted in phony love
The persecutor lurks
I see the vulture, not the dove
Not the light,but the murk
The ungodly slayer slams
Lord we are here thine lambs
Amidst wolves, we live
Jesus We know thou art near
Keep us from effects of scams
Lord, give us courage
Against men who can damage
We know thou will never leave
Still inside there is fear
Help us unto Thee cleave.
