The Web Poetry Corner - Alfy Andrews - Help me to Love
Help me to Love
by
Alfy Andrews
When I know thine commands, I must obey
I must then follow, when I know the right way
I should not grope , when there is light
When the victory is won, Why should I fight?
How can I be bound by cords of great length?
When Iam set free, when there is strength
How can I linger to those cherished bad habits?
When the old man must be done away bit by bit
How can I with perverse ways,my flesh satisfy?
While I with His Spirit must this flesh mortify
How can I foolishly embrace a glamorous concubine?
When I should abide with my first Love, like a vine
Oh...how can I do this wicked thing before my Love?
How can I fail to reciprocate to this Love from above?
Lord Jesus, My feet ran haste to evil and I have hurt thee
Lord Jesus, break my cold heart...help me to Love THEE
NEXT?
Why don't you look at
Unglued...
