The Web Poetry Corner - Alan C. Keimig - Bear Country
Bear Country
by
Alan C. Keimig
We drove slowly stopping
Now and then
To gander at the roadside
Through the trees
Trying to see
This is bear country
We believe and signs
Saying so appeared
At all the sidings
One could stop
Trees and berry brush
Tend to strengthen one's
Belief in seeing them.
Through the shadows, shadows
Would appear to move
Beside dark shapes and
Between two trees a twig
Was snapped but
Nothing still was seen
Not hide nor Hair of bear
And nearly everything
Was still accept
The shadows moved
>From place to place
And time to time
We drove on slowly
Stopping now and then.
