The Girl With The Beautiful Life
by
Alan C. Keimig
The girl with the beautiful lips
The girl with the beautiful eyes
The girl with the beautiful hands,
The path through the garden lost
For years leads down to the
Meadowland and the wild wood trees
To long stories told and night and
Short ones rendered down to
Memory. It is not love which
Holds us down but fear's slim
Chances, choices made, benedictions
Over father's graves, pure sorcery,
The pale wind's voice urging on
With trickery, petticoats and gowns
Pulled up to execute the well
Worth deed. The pathway quits
In the corners we are told
Without investigating the next turn.
The girl with the beautiful
Life to lead find me again.
