Summer Morning
by
Alan C. Keimig
The meadow dressed in late summer
Ochre touches rows of green along
The edge which slopes along the hillside
Each side meanders down between the river
In silence like a golden stream of motion
Making in its pasture waves which gentle
Under wind's soft corridor. There is more
Early here the cool light ranging down, the
Blue sapphire, the cones of spruce which
Lift their places out above the morning
Door ajar the early smell of coffee melts
Across the room and you in cotton housecoat
Fuzzy slippers liquid pour into my view
And bring the streaming cup with love's
Awaited summer smile across the porch.
