Evening Comes Calm
by
Alan C. Keimig
Across the heavens the splendid clouds
Race swiftly in the heel of high wind.
Here the calm is quite contracted to
The rage above which racks the sky gray
White we sit comfortable in our void and
Watch the world burn through the last
Remnants of day it its blaze of Fluorescent
Colors. Tonight it seems we are apart
>From the rest of it in our oasis. The
Heat of day passing through the open door
Across the tile our bare feet pick up
The cool comfort left by clay. O beloved
Body, beloved soul, beloved company
Beloved spirit beloved love you have
Conquered me in this hour grown late
The dome above dark in a sea of starlight
I surrender gladly to your heart and
Heed your call come here sit let the
Distance be apart let ours grow less
And less. Let us be just one in our
Refuge. Let us be forever joined in
This harmony we make beneath the sky.
