Biography of a Species
by
Adam Gosha
His head's been conditioned to
never look sideways, but simply with
taste I'm kept awake. To
look as straight as he would shatter,
my dreams, and things I've lived for.
The characters we see in life are matched,
like plastic action figures. We
break the mold, and our story is
told and forgotten similar to every
time before us. I know he is one,
or was at one time, able to
look sideways, or even up and down.
But now he is forgotten, in the
middle of his own shrinking mind. All
the knowledge he once collected is
worthless to him now. He has
forgotten those once who loved him,
he's forgotten those who've forgotten him, he's
become unable to remind anyone of his
presence. And so, he looks straight, up
ahead into nowhere, in where no one
wants to be seen. He has begged
for silence, a gift he's given himself.
Lonely he looks ahead, I
remember you, man.
