They say you have to accept your significant other's bad traits - and in The Bachelor, Renee Zellweger discovers that her boyfriend's worst trait is his ineptitude at popping the question.

That would be Chris O'Donnell, nice to look at and a pretty charming guy - but not too bright when it comes to spouting out romantic drivel to impress his girlfriend Anne (Zellweger) when he proposes. After his first failure at this task, she temporarily dumps him.

Then, his grandfather dies, leaving him 100 million dollars - but only if he marries before his thirtieth birthday, which just happens to be tomorrow (the guy sure picked an inopportune time to drop dead). After making another unsuccessful attempt at proposing to Anne, O'Donnell reluctantly gives up on her and goes after his other ex-girlfriends.

Despite the money, none of them want to marry him, for various reasons. Trying to help, his good friend places a newspaper ad which makes the headlines: Would you marry this man for 100 million dollars?

Needless to say, O'Donnell soon has every woman in town after him.

Audio VersionThe Bachelor isn't the funniest movie I've seen, and at times it's a little too sappy for my taste. (I prefer romantic comedies that are more comedy than drippy romance.) However, The Bachelor had some very laughable scenes, and the actors are terrific. Overall, it was an enjoyable movie.
