Probably one of the best films of a stand-up comedian's performance, Richard Pryor proves that he is definitely one of the funniest men in the world. The concert was filmed two years after he nearly killed himself free-basing on cocaine, so it's his first performance in front of a live audience since that fateful accident. He handles himself quite well and a lot of his topics come off hysterically funny (including, of course, free-basing) and his timing is excellent. Pryor has been an influence on the likes of Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence, who's films you will find in this review. Rent this one. Some of the topics may be a little outdated, but if you understand what he's talking about, you will most certainly find them funny.
