Gigantically overblown spoof of James Bond spy films. David Niven plays the aging detective, trying to find an eligible replacement. He believes he's found it in Mr. Evelyn Tremble (Peter Sellers), an incompetent writer, who is thrown into a web of deceit and a ring of evil. An all-star cast and five directors (including John Huston) can't save this from being the erratic mess it is. The comedy is dreadful most of the time, and the editing is uneven, at best. There are some good moments, thanks to the talent of Sellers and also to Woody Allen as the bumbling evil genius. But the movie still just doesn't make much sense. Do yourselves a favor. Don't see it.
