John Cusak plays John Kelso, a reporter who comes to the town of Savannah, Georgia to cover a posh Christmas party, hosted by Jim Williams (Kevin Spacey), a self-made art-collecting millionaire. Later in evening, after the party, Billy (Jude Law), William's young lover is found dead, shot admittedly by Jim. Although he protests it was in self-defense. Kelso decides to stay through the trial and write a book about it, while trying to help the innocent Jim Williams. A colorful cast of characters come along, each with their own quirks and follies. Although this movie may lag at points, it keeps you entertained, and comes to a chilling climax. So get drawn into this intriguing movie of murder, a small town, and...voodoo.

Okay, so I have to admit...I think one of the coolest things about this movie is that one of the characters is named Mandy. I don't know any other Mandys! It's a rather obscure name nowadays, so I thought that was cool. I have to say, that although he was only in there for about five minutes, Jude Law was excellent. That's the sign of a great actor, when they have a small role, and you find yourself giving him praise. Kevin Spacey was excellent, as always, and John Cusak was...John Cusak! He was perfect for his character, but nothing spectacular. The greatest thing about the movie is the characters, some a little stereotypical, all of them different and distinct. This movie isn't for everyone, it's not for those who want to sit around and simply be entertained.
