Thinking back within the past decade or two, there have been many movies that have changed filmmaking, better or worse. Fortunately, I Know What You Did Last Summer did it for the better.

Some teenagers run over a stranger with their car, they leave him for dead trying to get on with their lives. He returns with a hook to get his revenge on the group of teens. Of course the plot itself isn't very unique, but it's essentially similar to the Scream trilogy. The screenplay isn't trying to always be taken seriously. It's supposed to be creepy, with some blood, and have a few laughs.

The cast is easily recognized from other material, and it includes Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Mischelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe. Since most of the movie isn't meant to be taken seriously, it's hard to judge skills in acting. However, all the teens play their part fairly well. Jennifer Love Hewitt gives a worthwhile, yet not memorable, performance.Sarah Mischelle Gellar certainly has her moments she shines and definitely stands out.

The sets have an incredible atmosphere throughout. Some are eerie and the locations were picked well. The camera work wasn't anything special and used standard shots for the most part. The rest of the visuals department was also nothing special.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is a movie that has been popular since its release and continues to be up to the present. It's entertaining and may even surprise a few viewers, since this isn't your typical slasher flick. I Know What You Did Last Summer may not be in the same caliber as Scream, but nonetheless changed the way slasher flicks were made.
