As soon as I heard this was up for an oscar, I wanted to see it because I wanted to attempt to see each oscar nominated film. I am not into religious films, but this one is different from the rest of them. As long as you know what you are getting into, I'm sure you'll be fine.

The story follows a Catholic school as the priest seems to have some sort of inappropriate relationship with one of the students. The head of the nuns is suspicious and has a feeling about what's going on and wants to bring him down. I thought that it was going to be a fprmula film, but it took great twists and turns throughout. It gets very dramatic, while still being completely believable.

The strong point of the entire movie is the acting. Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman were the two stars of this movie. They are able to go back and forth at each other, accusing and doubting each other and each gives a brilliant performance. These are some of the best performances I have ever seen and will always be remembered by me.

Dramas never have very many visuals, but the school set and the costumes are very accurate. Each set looked like real life and did not look like the crew had to generate the weather. The visuals are great for a drama.

Doubt is one of my favorite dramas of the year. As I said earlier, I do not like most religious movies, so this is my favorite religious movie as well. It has a terrific ending and I never got bored throughout the entire movie. I highly doubt anybody with taste for these dramas will be disappointed. Doubt is highly recommended for all to see.

My Rating = Four and One Half Stars
