Doctor Catherine suspects her husband David of infidelity and hires a sexy prostitute named Chloe to seduce him and test his faithfulness. As Catherine checks in on Chloe's encounters with David, her reports become more lurid. The plot has been compared many times to other erotic thrillers. The screenplay starts off phenomenal, capturing the viewer instantly. The dialogue is well-written and is clever. As the film continues, it begins going into a direction that many audiences may not be comfortable with. Although, many men will be loving the route the film takes. The plot points soon become obvious and the ending is rather predictable for anyone who's paying attention to everything that's happening.
The three leads are what promotes the film. Amanda Seyfried is the beautiful prostitute, Julianne Moore is the doctor wife and Liam Neeson is her husband. All three of them perform beautifully on screen. Neeson is rarely on screen after the first thirty minutes and becomes only spoken of. Moore performs wonderfully and is believable in her role. Seyfried is fantastic as the sexy escort and is able to deliver her dialogue perfectly. All three are perfect for their roles, but it would have been better to see more deeply into the characters of David and Chloe.
The film is beautifully shot. Photography is stunning. The lighting is amazing and gives the film a very professional look. The camera work is able to make something as simple as plants appear absolutely beautiful and interesting to look at.
One might believe that this is strictly a drama and thriller. That would be wrong. This film is highly erotic showing both Julianne Moore and Amanda Seyfried nude. Sex scenes are shown up to what is able to be shown to keep the R rating. Some may like the direction it goes in, but it's an uncomfortable film. Chloe isn't for everyone, but it's worth a rental to see if you're part of the crowd that's for it.
