The plot follows a boy and his friend. The two kids get a flyer saying there is a freak show in town. They are curious, so the two check it out. There are all kinds of freaky traits shown in the performance. One of the boys steals the vampire's spider, since he loves spiders. The spider escapes and bites his best friend. He returns to the theater and asks the vampire for the antidote to save his friend. In return, he must be turned half vampire and be his assistant. I find the freak show to be interesting. The abilities are interesting to watch. After a few have been shown, it begins to get boring. The story doesn't go anywhere and is pointless.
The only cast member I find exciting is John C. Reilly. He has been in many comedies that are great. However, he gave a mediocre performance at best. The rest of the cast are terrible. They never interact correctly and nothning seems real. I expect more out of John C. Reilly in the future.
The visuals vary throughout the film. The computer work on the freaks and their abilities is fine. It is done perfectly and looks very real. As the movie continues, it heads downhill. When a vampire runs, it looks fake. This is a big budget film, it should have great visuals.
Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant is a terrible film. Many Twilight fans will pay money to see this, but they will feel ripped off.. The ending is predictable and will try to set itself for a sequel. I hope that this garbage never hits theaters again. If you are a vampire fan or not, it doesn't matter. There is nothing to recommend this film.
