Are You Starting to Get It?

August 18, 2008

Last week, while the Olympics were celebrating Michael Phelps' phenomenal victories, Russia invaded Georgia. Oh wait, it appears that Georgia invaded South Ossetia first and that Russia was just protecting its citizens there. Or what?

Who can say?

Of course, the flannel mouth politicians...not to mention the heavily "state influenced" media in the U.S....loudly decried this action, while trying desperately to forget...or get you to forget...that we have invaded two sovereign countries in the past decade with manufactured excuses...and little real success. Oh, and neither of these countries were on our borders. Then there were the U.S. "peacekeeping" efforts in Bosnia and Kuwait, or have you forgotten about those? The pot calling the kettle black?

Who can say?

What anybody can think...or say...is that none of this will stop any time soon in the absence of a true democratic world government. As long as there are executive "leaders"...read: "dictators"...willing to risk the lives of the children of their nation's people in futile and stupid conflicts...for oil, for power, for prestige, for glory, for who can say what...and we, the people of the world, do not object...and ACT...it will NEVER stop.

Then there is Iran. While declaring that they are just upgrading their nuclear power plants, the U.S. and its allies are certain that they are really trying to develop nuclear weapons. Why would they do that?

Why not? Other countries hostile to Iran, including Israel and the U.S.A., are already in possession of lots and lots of these apocalyptic weapons and at least one of these two has shown willingness to use them...against Iran...if "necessary." Might they hesitate if Iran has the bomb too? You betcha, Kimosabe!

How about Israel? It is obvious to the casual observer that most of its trouble stem from one source...mixing religion and politics. The leaders of that beleagured nation won't even consider reversing any of their stupid Zionist provocations: The Chosen People, the right of return, two-state Batustanistic "solutions." Anyone with half a brain or conscience...a group that includes many, many Israelis...can see that uniting Palestine and Israel into a single SECULAR state would end the conflict immediately. The "Jewish" state of Israel would be "wiped off the map." All religions would have equal access to the so-called Holy Lands and peoples who are closely related both by blood and cultural traditions can begin the process of reconciliation.

Finally there is China.

While it is putting on quite a media show at the Olympics, most Western commentators, forgetting the growing pains their countries went through trying to institute vaguely democratic systems...not to mention the continual tendency of the leaders of all these nations to abridge democratic rights and freedoms on the slightest pretense...can not resist nattering about China's lack of "human rights." Of course, what they really mean is that while the average Chinese has the freedom to eat, to receive medical care, to employment, to schooling...all RIGHTS by the way...what they still can not do...and we can...is call their leaders moronic shitheads...aloud or in print...as we have often done. Which do YOU think is more important at the outset of democratic reforms? The Bushites would say that property rights are foremost...just ask them.

What they do NOT mean is democracy, the right of the people themselves to run their lives and their countries. Instead, they preserve the rights of the aristocracy in institutions like the U.S. Senate or British House of Lords or the multitude of semi-secret societies and lobbyists which actually run things, all for the benefit of the rich and powerful, as though the peaceful future of the world depended on THOSE assholes!

AS IF!

It has been said that the only cure for the sins of democracy is more democracy. We will continue in this space to promote just that...and not just for the U.S....for the entire world. The motto of the Beijing Olympics is "One World One Dream." Let us, together, make this real.

Talk to you later...
