Another Modest Proposal

The people of the United States have become polarized around the subject of invading Iraq and deposing Saddam Hussein. On the one side are loyal patriots who agree with our president that Saddam is an evil man who lies all the time, who has attacked his own people with weapons of mass destruction, who has armed and supported terrorists, who defies all U.N. resolutions involving Iraq, who attempted to assassinate President Bush the First, who pays no attention to what other countries and their leaders think and who uses elaborate and secretive methods to protect himself and the other leaders of Iraq. On the other side are McGovernite wimps and traitors who hate the United States and all it stands for.
Right after 9/11, when President Bush called upon all patriotic Americans to rally behind his War on Terrorism, acclaimed conservative commentator Ann Coulter said (about Arab countries), "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity." More recently, she called the editors of the conservative National Review "girly boys" as she figured that they were not four square behind our president. Now there's a woman with BALLS!
Meanwhile, the enemies of the state are raising issues like...
- Didn't President Kennedy lie to us about the Bay of Pigs invasion? Didn't President Johnson fabricate the Tonkin Gulf incident? When Jimmy Carter said that he "would never lie to us," there was universal laughter in the media. Hey, Carter was a wimp and those other incidents involved DIRTY COMMIES! Perhaps the protesters are themselves dirty commies!
- The U.S. has massive amounts of weapons of mass destruction, has used germ warfare (smallpox) against Native Americans, poison gas in WW I, and atom bombed Japan...twice...during WW II. Hey, those events took place a long time ago and who remembers? Plus, Indians aren't REAL Americans and those others were foreigners.
- President Reagan sided with Iraq in its war against Iran and subsequently armed al Qaida...then called Mujahadeen...in Afghanistan during their war against the Soviet Union. He also traded arms for hostages with Iran. But those event were justified at the time by expediency, especially against those dirty communists!
- The U.S. routinely ignores U.N. resolutions when we do not agree with them, especially the many condemning Israeli aggression against Palestinians. Have they forgotten that the Bible mandates the Israeli homeland? More evidence that they are actually godless commies themselves!
- Didn't the U.S. attempt, on several occasions, to assassinate Fidel Castro, going to far as to hire the Mafia to make one of the tries? See, these people just don't understand! Communists are evil! Saddam is evil! Get it?
- Isn't Bush's and Cheney's proclamation that we can "go it alone" no matter what the rest of the world thinks...isn't this just as bad as Saddam? Hey, Bush and Cheney were freely elected leaders in a democracy, fully sanctioned by our very own Supreme Court, while Saddam is a dictator. Bush and Cheny good, Saddam evil! Are you beginning to understand?
- Finally, we learned shortly after 9/11 that we have a "shadow government" hidden in secret locations and, most recently, Vice President Cheney was taken to an undisclosed hiding place to protect him against harm should terrorists strike again in Washington. That's NOT the same thing! We are protecting valuable leaders while Saddam is hiding evil doers, including himself!
What can we do about all these turncoats? What our government did to Johnny Taliban...and all those other nameless, faceless, towel-heads being held without recourse to our legal system...leads the way to a solution. Declare that all people who disagree with our freely elected President are enemies of the state, put them in concentration camps in Wyoming and Montana...the camps used to lock up potential Jap traitors during WW II will do nicely...and give them a choice. Emigrate to Iraq or Afghanistan or face firing squads. Or, if there are too many traitors to handle that way, perhaps Germany will grant us the use of its facilities at Auschwitz and Buchenwald...
