Academic curriculum:

2000- Bachelors degree in Translation and Interpreting at the Superior Education School of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal.

1999 Attendance in a Dutch course at the Letters Faculty of Lisbon’s University.

Discipline of Technical English at the Superior School of Technology of Setúbal where, along with an English engineer and an English/German teacher, developed several projects on translation and interpretation which followed, for instance, an invitation to work as a conference interpreter at the 1st International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems.

Professional experience:

I’m working as a professional translator since August 1999. I translated the entire web page of the Saint-Gaudens National Historical Site (available at www.sgnhs.org) for the United States Department of the Interior and worked as volunteer translator for the IIGS (Internet International Genealogical Society) - (available at www.iigs.org.).

I’ve been doing a number of works for a Translation office by which obtained a valuable experience in technical and Law terminology in Spanish, Portuguese and English. These works consist mainly in the translation of deeds and technical works connected to civil construction and medicine.

Nowadays, and during this year, I’ve been working at the Foreign Programs Management Department of the Portuguese National TV Chain (RTP).

Other experience:

I have participated in the 5th and 7th editions of EDIT (European Dimension In Teaching), which took place in Nijmegen (Netherlands) during the months of March and April 1998 and April 2000, respectively and in the 2nd and 3rd Seminars on Scientific and Technical Translation in Portuguese Language which was organised by the Latin Union, Body of Delegates of the European Committee in Portugal and Institute for Science and Technology, between the 22nd and the 24th November, 1999 and the 18th and the 19th October 2000, respectively.

I was in charge of an important part of the organization of the 1st Young Translators Seminar, a precursor project, which took place at the Superior Education School of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal during the 21st, the 22nd and the 23rd November 2000.

Other competences:

Very high knowledge in Spanish, both spoken and written.

Very solid knowledge using Internet, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Front Page Express and Imaging Corel Draw 6.

I translate pages in different kinds of format (plain text, MS Front Page Express).

Wide experience translating Internet pages (HTML).
