Willy Chaplin's Web Presence
My career in computing spans nearly a half century. I continue to produce new and innovative applications to this day. I have been on the Internet since December 1969, one month after it started as ARPANET. Our...my wife and my...collection of Web sites, dreamagic.com, contains nearly 60,000 pages and has been on the Web since early 1995. Among them are some of our "hits" over the years:
- Teen Movie Critic Posted for the first time in 1995, this site became an overnight sensation. Netscape listed it as a featured site for several years. The first TMC, Roger Davidson, was honored in many venues, featured in U.S.A. Today, People magazine and quite a few other media outlets. He even got to lecture at the University of Minnesota. His tenure was followed by three other TMC's.
- The Gift of Youth is a fitness site for middle aged and older people. My wife Gypsy decided to become a body builder when she turned fifty and shared her many insights as she "buffed up" with the world on this site.
- How Can You Laugh at a Time Like This? The very first libertarian blog site on the Web, this site allowed Gypsy and myself to vent on a large number of topics, political and philosophical. Over the years, we have written and posted 436 essays.
- The Web Poetry Corner This site remains our most popular site to this day. It hosts ver 5,000 poets and 50,000 poems written by people from over a hundred countries.
- Learn Backgammon the Dreamagic Way, Learn Sudoku the Dreamagic Way and Learn Freecell the Dreamagic Way are three of our more recent attempts to attract more users to our collection of sites. Gypsy learned everything she knows...and she is a highly ranked backgammon player online...from the first of these, using a program that was marketed as Gammon Gambler in the seventies, selling about 150,000 copies. The other two are my attempts to teach puzzle solving skills online.
